15 Best Marathon Movie Trilogies

Must Read

Although there are great marathon Netflix series, sometimes it makes you want to watch movies. There’s nothing better than a trilogy of movies to spend an entire day watching, especially when you have to stay home. There are great websites and apps for watching movies and series, but today we’re going to make some special recommendations for the trios we’ve mentioned.

If you want to know which movie trilogy we’re going to suggest, just check out our list. The options are detailed below!

1. Star Wars

To start our list, we have the classic Star Wars trilogy. We know that there are two other trilogies that are part of the saga, the prequels – which explain the origin of the villainous Darth Vader – played by George Lucas and the sequences that take place after the classic trilogy in a less structured way of Disney.

Since both are so controversial, we will only recommend the original which is still loved by most fans of the franchise. In this trilogy, we follow the adventure of Luke Skywalker as he trains to become a Jedi and take control of the empire that dominates the galaxy.

2. The Matrix

Although it was released a long time ago, The Matrix Trilogy is still very fresh today. Over the course of the films, Neo and his companions are seen doing their best to fight off the computer network that has created a virtual reality in which humans live and do not know each other.

There are those who don’t like the second movie, but overall the trilogy is worth watching. Especially since a new movie will be released in the future.

3. The Lord of the Rings

If you’re a fan of JRR Tolkien’s work, you can’t miss seeing a trilogy based on the author’s books. Unlike many adaptations of the book, these films do their best to achieve a flawless result.

In these films we see the journey of Frodo (and many other characters, of course) to destroy Sauron’s ring. It’s hard to sum up the whole adventure, but we guarantee it’s a worthwhile experience even for those who haven’t read the books.

4. The Hobbit

Since we recommend The Lord of the Rings, here is another movie trilogy to marathon. The Hobbit is also based on Tolkien’s book, but it’s much shorter and there really was no need to break it down into three movies. But because it’s a triple, it qualifies to be on this list.

However, these are works to discover if you like this universe and its characters. Remember that The Hobbit takes place before the events of Lord of the Rings, serving as a prequel of sorts, just like in Star Wars

5. Jurassic Park

Jurassic Park was a huge hit in the 90s. As you already know, the films of this trilogy show the negative consequences of trying to create a dinosaur park nowadays.

The first movie is still the best, but the other two are great fun too. If you want, there are also new films from this franchise, although they are not very related to the original.

6. Batman

If you love DC Comics’ iconic Batman, you know we can’t leave you out of the movie trilogy in a marathon. He’s had several movies over the years, but we’d recommend the Christopher Nolan-directed trilogy, which was hugely popular in the 2000s.

It tells the origin of the hero of Gotham, as well as some other adventures, such as his meeting with the Joker experienced by the late actor Heath Ledger, considered by many to be the best interpreter of the emblematic villain. It’s worth watching, even if you’re not a fan of superhero movies.

7. Spiderman

Knowing that there are many different Spider-Man movies out there, it’s worth noting that we’re referring to a trilogy that started in the early 2000s. It still stars Tobey McGuire and is directed by Sam Raimi.

Since neither of the other two versions of Spider-Man won a third movie, this old trilogy is still worth watching. Although there are odd moments and less than expected closures, they are very enjoyable films.

8. Captain America

Another great trilogy for Marvel hero fans is Captain America. The first and second movies can be seen without the other Marvel movies, but for the third, it’s good to see at least The Avengers and its sequel, The Age of Ultron.

Overall, the films tell the story of Steve Rogers, how he became Captain America, and the challenges he faces after this transformation, including living in a more modern world than in his day. . They are some of the best in the world of Marvel cinema, it’s worth seeing.

9. The Godfather

A true classic of cinema, the Godfather trilogy is not to be missed. The first two films were released in a short period of time, but the last one took over 25 years to hit screens.

The epic tells the story of the Corleone family, with particular emphasis on Michael. He must take his father’s place in the mafia business, even if it is against his will.

10. Indiana Jones

Here’s another great classic from our Marathon Movie Trilogy list. The three original films in the Professor of Archeology saga are worth watching, especially for those who have never seen them before.

There’s even a newer movie if you like the classics, but it doesn’t count as the others.

11. Back to the Future

Another well-known trilogy that we recommend is Back to the Future. You may have already seen at least one, if not all, of this popular franchise.

In this one, we accompany young Marty McFly on his travels through different eras. Almost any trip that involves your family, whether in the distant past or the near future. A great choice for those who love science fiction.

12. Before Dawn

The “Pre-Dawn” franchise is one of the best marathon movie trilogies, especially for those who like something more romantic. Indeed, it tells the story of Jesse and Céline, two young men who meet on a train in Europe and decide to spend the night talking, before each has to leave a different country.

The two films show the two at different times in their lives and what happened after that first meeting. Since there’s actually a lot of real time between the three movies, that ends up making it all the more exciting.

13. Panic

With so many different options on our list of movie trios for marathons, we can’t help but create one for anyone who loves horror. The Panic Trilogy is one of the top recommendations, although not all of the films are top notch.

At least they’re all interesting and have moments of tension. For those unfamiliar with the plot, it’s about a masked serial killer who is determined to pursue the hero Sidney and his family.

14. We are the heroes

The trilogy had a huge hit in the 90s, We Are the Champions. The funny movies show a youth hockey team named Mighty Ducks, which is coached by a former professional player who retired from injury.

When it was released, the film had popularized the use of skates. Also, it was common to see jerseys and hats with the team symbol everywhere.

15. The Silence of the Lambs

A recommendation for those who like the thrill is the The Silence of the Lambs franchise. It’s easily one of the best marathon movie trilogies, even if it’s unconventional.

It also took years to complete and it doesn’t even have the same actors in every movie. Its aim is to show the cannibalistic serial killer Hannibal Lecter, who understands his crimes and helps the police.
